Mark Kaplan

Mark Kaplan (CRD# 1978048) began his career in the securities industry in 1989 working as at broker at Lehman Brothers. His career in the industry ended in February 2018 when he resigned from his position at Vanderbilt Securities and agreed to be barred by FINRA after allegations that he engaged in churning the account of a 93-year-old retired clothing salesman who suffered from dementia. At the Sonn Law Group, we know that it’s all too common for bad brokers to take advantage of elderly clients for their own personal gain.

According to the allegations, between 2011 and 2015 Mr. Kaplan “engaged in churning and unsuitable excessive trading in the brokerage accounts of a senior customer,” making in excess of 3,500 trades which resulted in nearly $750k in trading losses and $735,000 in commissions and mark ups for Mark Kaplan and Vanderbilt Securities.
