Former RBC Capital broker Thomas Lee Johnson (CRD#: 1215434) has been barred from FINRA following allegations of fraud.

Johnson has 34 years of industry experience with four firms, including: RBC Capital Markets of Indianapolis, IN (2009–2017); Citigroup Global Markets of Indianapolis, IN (1993–2009); Lehman Bros. of New York, NY (1992–1993); and Dean Witter Reynolds of Purchase, NY (1983–1992).

He has two disclosures in FINRA record.

Johnson was barred from FINRA on August 23, 2019, for his alleged involvement in fraudulent activity and for providing false and misleading information to FINRA.

In January 2019 Johnson was suspended from FINRA and named as a respondent in a FINRA complaint alleging that he converted his member firm’s funds by transferring $1,059,545 from his firm account to his personal bank account for his own use and benefit.

The complaint alleges that Johnson’s firm deposited the funds into his brokerage account at the firm following the firm’s liquidation of his shares of Doosan Heavy Industries, a South Korean company.

Reportedly, due to a system error, the firm incorrectly priced Johnson’s Doosan holdings in South Korean instead of U.S. currency, resulting in Johnson receiving over a million dollars from the sale of his securities when it should only have been $950.

Rather than notify the firm of the error, the complaint states that Johnson wrote himself a check for $1,059,354 and deposited the funds into his personal bank account.

The case against Johnson is currently pending appeal.
